Downing Bolls
AnchorDowning was interested in news from a young age. In junior high school he could be found at the Walter Reed Medical Center watching the Teletype machines at the hospital radio station. It was ultimately a class trip to the studios of the Voice of America that really lit the fire for Downing to become a news broadcaster. Having graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a Degree in Journalism and a minor in political science, Downing came to work for KRBC Radio as a newsman in 1976. He then moved to KRBC-TV in 1987 and has been the KRBC News Director twice. Downing has been married for the last 27 years and has two grown children.
Kyna Grigsby
AnchorBack to Abilene for a second time, Kyna is glad to be back home among friends and family. Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Kyna left to attend Syracuse University. Deciding the cold weather didn’t agree with her, she transferred to the University of Miami where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism. After college, Kyna taught middle school history and journalism for four years. She then decided she would rather work in news and got a job as Assignment Editor at WPEC in West Palm Beach. After two and half years there, Kyna moved closer to home and began work as an anchor and reporter with KRBC. She then moved back to Florida briefly, working as a reporter at WBBH in Fort Myers, before coming back to Texas. Kyna is a member of several organizations including the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and the National Association of Black Journalists. When not working, Kyna enjoys reading, exercising and spending time with family.
Stephanie Harris
KRBC West Texas Today Anchor
Coming from Tye, Texas, Stephanie knew from a young age that she wanted to be a News Reporter. Inspired by her childhood hero Lois Lane, she got her start when she bumped into a KRBC weatherman back in 2005 and asked for a job. She started as a camera operator, worked her way up into the news department an an assistant producer and recently became a morning anchor. Stephanie is currently a junior at Abilene Christian University where she is working towards her Broadcast Journalism degree. She is married and close with her family, so in her free time she enjoys spending time with them.
Darcy Dupree
ReporterDarcy’s first experience with reporting was during high school when a tornado hit downtown Fort Worth and she wanted to cover it. Ever since she put together her first story she has loved reporting. Coming from Fort Worth, Texas, Darcy graduated Cum Laude from Texas Christian University where she majored in Broadcast Journalism with a double minor in political science and education. During her time at TCU, Darcy interned at WFAA-TV while at the same time anchoring and reporting for Fort Worth Focus, a city cable show. During her time at KRBC she has covered everything from the Rattlesnake Round-Up in Sweetwater to the IRS problem in Anson.
Garret Krier
Reporter
Garret comes to Abilene from the NBC Affiliate in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he worked as a Producer for 2 years. During that time Garret was nominated for and won an Emmy for helping produce a morning newscast. Garret graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2005.
Currently Garret covers General Assignment Reporting, Tech at Ten, and Does it Work.

Originally from the rolling hills of
Nashville, Tennessee, Shelby Coates is now calling the Big Country her home.
Shelby first came to Abilene to study Broadcast Journalism at Abilene Christian
University. Shelby knew she wanted to be a journalist when she learned how much
power the media has when it comes to bringing about social change and justice.
While attending ACU Shelby worked as an anchor, reporter, producer and host at
KXN-TV, the campus TV station. She also worked as the Video Editor for ACU's
Optimist Online News Videos. While attending ACU, Shelby managed to intern at
WSMV, the NBC affliate in Nashville, for two years. She also interned or worked
at all three local stations here in Abilene. Now Shelby is proud to be the
Education Reporter/ Fill-In Anchor at KRBC.
When Shelby is not working she tries to stay
involved in the Abilene community through NAACP, ACU, and the Minda Street
Church of Christ. Plus you may see Shelby at a play, park or a Mexican

David Bacon
News DirectorHaving grown up in Abilene, David graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He has worked for television stations in Midland/Odessa, San Antonio and St. Louis before coming back to Abilene in 1981. Much of David’s time at KTAB was spent as the Sports Director until 2005. During his time as Sport Director David won several awards for his coverage of local high school and college athletics. He also covered Super Bowls XXVIII and XXX as well as the 1995 Major League All-Star Game for KTAB. David spent two years an Account Executive before being promoted to News Director in 2007.
