There are approximately 300,000 people in our viewing area in the Abilene television market.  This is translated into approximately 113,890 homes.  Of the homes in the viewing area, 88.6% of them subscribe to cable and/or satellite.  The remaining 11.4% of homes watch television over the air.  41.8% of the homes in our viewing are have wired cable (a hard wired system coming into their home from a “cable” provider…this include Suddenlink cable as well as all other cable providers in our coverage area).  48.2% of the homes in our viewing area have a satellite signal coming into their home.

Of the homes that have paid television service (something other than just an antenna), 47.1% of those homes have cable and 54.5% have satellite.  The number adds up to more than 100% since there are a few homes that have both.

 A commercial that is bought on “cable”, will not been seen on all “cable systems and will not be seen on any of the “satellite” home TVs.  That translates into cable not being able to reach more than ½ of the homes in our viewing area.  Local advertisers cannot buy commercial on satellite.  Our stations are viewed on all of the cable systems, DISH Network, and over the air, thus giving us a possible reach of over 98% of all homes in the viewing area.
