![]() Reporter Michelle Ashworth joined the KTAB News Team after starting her first job working in Oregon. As the KEZI Coos Bay Bureau Chief she covered coastal stories involving the timber and fishing industry, environmental issues, and state elections in the Pacific Northwest. Her passion for journalism is driven by the people she meets out in the field everyday. Getting a chance to discover their stories is the best part of her job. This is Michelle's first time in Texas, and she's delighted to be reporting on subjects important to the Big Country and the surrounding areas. She received her broadcast journalism degree from the Walter Cronkite School at Arizona State University. There she reported on immigration issues and teen prostitution in downtown Phoenix. Michelle has been the recipient of several Mark of Excellence awards from the Society of Professional Journalists. She has also received recognition from the Hearst Foundation for her work in TV Hard News. In 2008 Michelle was one of ten students out of the nation chosen for the Meredith-Cronkite Fellowship. When she's not reporting, you can find her catching up with friends and family or playing with her dog, Toca. She welcomes you to email her with your story ideas at mashworth@ktab.tv. |
