James “Jim” Meador, age 81, of Baird, Texas, passed away
Monday, October 19, 2009, at his home. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday,
October 22, 2009, in the Chapel of Parker Funeral Home in Baird, Texas
with Pastor Matt McGowen officiating. Interment will follow in CrossPlainsCemetery. Services are
under the direction of Parker Funeral Home in Baird. A family visitation will
take place from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Jim was born in Texas
on November 9, 1927, to Robert Monroe Meador and Ethel Mae Smith Meador. He had
lived in CallahanCounty a long time,
mainly living in Putnam and Cross Plains. He moved to Baird 2 years ago. He had
been a roughneck in the oil field, a farmer, and a rancher. Jim served in the
U. S. Navy during W.W.II, and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his companion, Yvonne Wheeler of Baird; 2
sons, Jimmy Glenn Meador of Rising Star, Texas, and Bobby Jack Beasley of Maud,
Texas; 2 daughters, Debora Cowsert of Clyde, Texas, and Patricia Jo Hopkins and
her husband, H. D. of Cross Plains, Texas; 7 grandsons; 16 great-grandchildren;
a brother, T. O. Meador of Cross Plains, Texas; 2 stepsons, Rodney Wheeler and
Eddie Wheeler, both of Abilene, Texas; a step-daughter, Debbie Waller of Cisco,
Texas; 1 step-grandson; 3 step-grand-daughters; and 3 step-great-grandchildren,
as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Jim was preceded in death by 2
brothers.
