Reported by: Laura Kellerman Wednesday, Nov 4, 2009 @04:05pm CST Gov. Rick Perry met with supporters at Frontier Texas this afternoon, talking about the state of Texas' economy.
Perry described himself to the group as a fiscal conservative, criticizing over-spending and defending the state's budget. He is running for reelection in 2010 and hopes to knock out Republican opponent, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, in the primaries. Below is a cell phone recording from the small gathering at Frontier Texas. News-quality video will be available shortly. Perry came out today congratulating the two Republican governors-elect for their victories in Tuesday's election. Perry said Americans are concerned about spending practices in Washington, and says the voters of Virginia and New Jersey voted to change course by restoring control of their statehouses to the Republican Party. He has made efforts to lump Hutchison in with Washington, in an effort to attract a stronger conservative base. |
