A Clyde woman was killed overnight when her car veered off the road and struck a tree, according to DPS Trooper Sparky Dean.

Lanitta Baugh Sturgill, 47, was not wearing a seat belt when the car crashed at 2:45 a.m. on Highway 36 in Callahan County.  The crash happened 5.6 miles outside of Abilene.

The crash is still under investigation.  The roadway was dry and the weather was clear, Dean said.
