"Hands-off our healthcare, hands-off our economy, lower taxes," said Bob Prescott. "We want the big government out of our life, we're out here to stand up against the healthcare bill thats about to be voted on Saturday," Chase Taylor said. But everyone who attended wasn't from the Big Country. Jan Tenny travelled from Fort Worth to attend this mornings event. "I wanted to be part of the Tea Party Express," Tenny said. "To express my displeasure with the current administration and Congress spending money that my children and grandchildren are going to have to pay." Diana Nagy, a singer touring with the Tea Party Express says seeing people find their voice is why she does what she does. "We get so many comments when we pull up we hear, 'wheels for freedom!' and it just humbles me," Nagy said. "It amazes me to think that people are just so inspired by being able to know they've got a voice and they can come out and stand up for their beliefs." Bob Prescott agrees with Nagy that the most important part of the Tea Party Express is making your voice be heard. "The silent majority is now speaking up, the Tea Party express is a call and wake-up to the militia of the American citizens," Prescott said. "We are at war, its the war of words, its a war of ideologies." Chip Martin, of Anson, says he believes movements like this one will send a clear message to Washington. "I think it has an impact, and I think it shows the people in Washington DC that this is not just a movement thats going to come and burn out," Martin said. "This movement is not going to burn out until they stop spending the money, our tax dollars, in a way that we don't want them spent." |
