Reported by: Megan Dobbs Wednesday, Nov 11, 2009 @08:30am CST Jenna Bush Hager hasn't always been one of American's sweetharts.
"I don't know that I'd call it that," Hager chuckled. As a teen growing up in Texas, she made headlines for sticking out her tongue on the campaign trail and landing herself in trouble with the law: trying to buy alcohol underage in Austin. "I've experience a lot," noted Hager. Some would call it a troubled past. Others might call it typical. Either way, Hager want to put the past behind her. "I've done a lot. I've gone to South America for UNICEF. I've pubslished two books. So, I've done a whole lot," Hager told me. She was quick to defend herself and her experience. Hager said she has done plenty to deserve her new role in the TV spotlight. She says she tries not to listen to the critics who see her as nothing more than a president's daughter. "There are people who care about about me and know me as Jenna," said Hager. "They know who I am...so I don't worry about that." Hager's working to emerge from a presidential shadow, pave her own path, and make her own name. |
