Reported by: Chris Whited, KRBC News Tuesday, Nov 17, 2009 @09:55am CST Did you happen to feel cold air seeping through window seals or through the door this morning? That little cold draft can cost you money but the solution is inexpensive! Small leaks around windows and doors can account for as much as 35 to 40-percent of heat loss in your home during the winter months.
Home improvement experts say it's inexpensive to correct these issues. Just take a few minutes to check for leaks and also purchase some caulk or weather stripping to correct these problems. Travis Humphreys, an assistant store manager at the Abilene Home Depot, told KRBC News that "you can make your home more energy efficient for less than $20 by just doing the faucets, the windows covers and those types of things without having to spend a lot of money. It's very important to have your home winterized now to avoid problems as cold weather is here to stay. Also don't forget to wrap or cover outside faucets or exposed pipes. |
