After a four-hour closed-door meeting Monday night, the Jim Ned school board decide ninth grade English teacher and assistant football coach Kaleb Tierce would not be returning to the classroom.

Parents complained about a book Tierce assigned to his students entitled "Child of God." The book is said to have graphic descriptions of violence, sexual acts, and rape.

The Jim Ned School District would not comment on Tierce's suspension. Administrators said it is a personnel matter and there is an ongoing investigation.
