Reported by: Steve Abel, Abilene Better Business Bureau

Accredited Businesses, Donna Dougherty Insurance and Peggy Manning with Senter Realtors, have alerted the Better Business Bureau to a company out of Wynnewood, PA that is calling local businesses.  The sales pitch claims that 6,500 Amber Alert magnets will be mailed out to a zip code of the sponsor’s choice.   The sales pitch would lead you to believe that the Abilene Chamber of Commerce is participating in distribution of the magnets.  The cost of the sponsorship is $400.

Chamber officials report they have not authorized this company to use their name nor will they benefit.

With this type of advertising sales, ask how many will be printed and how will they be distributed?  Is the company willing to certify the number printed?  Always verify any affiliation with other organizations.
