Family owned and operated by the Garcia family, originally located at 434 Washington Street and North Treadaway Boulevard, ran for 62 years. In 1996 "El Fenix Cafe II" opened at 3241 South 1st and Willis by Robert and Olivia Velez, daughter of the original owners, Domingo & Maria Luisa Garcia. Both businesses were run together for 3 years. The original El Fenix on Treadaway was closed in November of 1999.
