FIVE times! That's how many times I counted today that the RPM Direct ad ran on the KTAB noon news report.

That is not good practice if you want to keep viewers tuned in. One time per 30 minutes will gain far more customers for a product than doing greed overkill and running potential customers off. I equate this to TEN calls from a telemarketer from 6:00 to 7:00 at night.

For a while, we will not be watching KTAB Noon News until the "commercial toilet" is flushed and things slow down. RPM "ad diarrhea", we do not need.

Thanks for allowing my opinion on this over irritating ad. Even if Homewood owns boths stations, he needs to use some reason at some point in time. From what I can tell he doesn't own the stations, but he must have some kind of powerful pull along the line. The kind that will lower viewership every single time.

I love Judge Judy. But I quit watching it because of those commercials. I am also so tired of them.

Between the old and new forums, we've complained until our fingers bled, but to no avail. The station is so scared of this homewood dude that they won't even comment here.....they'll probably get fired.

Hi there, actually I do look at every post that goes on the forums, just can't take the time to respond to everything.

On the RPM Direct issue: I know over the past couple of years Bill's commercials have been the talk of the town. Bill does a lot of advertising on both KTAB and KRBC.

Why does he do that?

Because the ads sell his product. It works. TV advertising is the most effective ad medium in the world. And advertising on our two powerhouse stations is good for his business. It's good for everyone's business.

You may not realize it, but since he started his television ads when KRBC went off Cox Cable a few years back, the Abilene-Sweetwater television market has seen a tremendous increase in satellite receiver penetration.

In fact, that growth in satellite usage has been phenomenal.

Abilene-Sweetwater is now one of the top small markets in the country where more people are watching television through the use of a satellite dish over cable television, 52% to 46%.

I appreciate the feedback sir, but I firmly believe there is more than meets the eye here. Advertising on your TV station is one thing, but setting up shop on the TV station's grounds is another. The fact that he is allowed to set up his business on the station's property suggests homewood has internal ties to the station. I don't see any other Abilene businesses with shops set up on the stations property. Why are the RPM ads run two and three times more than other local commercials? Are you saying that homewood doesn't have some special "pull"?

Whew, that's a relief. For a moment there, I thought my upper lip was causing that aroma.

Is EVERYTHING a conspiracy guys? Advertisers pay for ads. Advertising supports business.

Yep, it's all legal and paid for, but it sure is keeping us off KTAB & KRBC for viewing. Hope they enjoy scratching each others' backs 'cause no one's watching. Homewood must be a millionaire if he's paying for all of the ads.

It's really not that big a deal here. If it becomes annoying, I just hit the mute or "jump" button to go back to the last channel viewed. No big deal.

Maybe it wouldn't be so bothersome, if he'd change it up. That song is just irritating. Yes, everyone probably does know the phone number. But like I say before (and others too) I change channels when it comes on. I don't watch at all when he usually airs. Yes, it is that irritating. So I agree, that it would hurt ratings. Just get some new commercials that are different.
