$285 !!! What do you keep your temp set at? How many sq ft do you cool? My mid July to mid August was $125 (I use Spark Energy) and I thought that was high. Of course I keep our home at a "reasonable" 82 degrees......

He's getting ripped. Ours with Stream Energy wasn't but $120.00, and we ran our climate system almost constantly along with the TV and other stuff.

1800 square foot home, not very well insulated, 14 year old system paying 14.2 cents per KWH.
We are locked into them till Nov then I switch for .125 cents with another company
We have a programmable thermo that sets at 81 at night and 78-79 during the day depending on the times of day. I can't do 82 during the day, I will pay the difference to keep it at 78-79 as long as I can afford it.

I plan on insulating the attic this fall, it is going to cost me about $800 and maybe this Feb looking for an good deal on a whole new heating and AC system.
I hear the deals are better in Jan and Feb when their business is slower

with a new SEER rated system and insulation and the fact that I burn about 1.5 to 2 cords of firewood in my wood burning stove during winter, I will be much better off by this time next year.

Yeah, you'll definitely make out better with the .125 rate.

Now........... where do you get your wood from? I use about one cord per winter and last year I paid $150/cord. Sound reasonable? It was oak (mostly junk) but it worked. I need another option. I can cut my own mesquite, but mesquite is too rank for my sensitivities. Help me out, dude!

And finally................ bldg 7 was just about simple physics resulting from the Twin Towers! Just had to throw that in..........

I cut my own from various sources who let me. I only pay for gas and oil for my chain saw;)
I burn mesquite alot, I have a modern wood stove that is air tight and I don't smell anything inside the house.

Building 7 fell at nearly free fall speed and landed in it's own basement straight down.
All of the center supports had to fail at the exact same time.

Never before in history has a modern steel frame skyscraper collapsed from a fire and on 9-11 three of them fell

watch some of the video of what the firemen said about what they saw and heard right before each collapse

Thanks for the info on the wood. I guess I'll just get ripped off again for a cord of wood this winter. I should have cut my own like you, but I'm afraid it's too late -- not enough seasoning time left. Next Spring, fer shure.

Got another nice rain this PM -- 1.7 inches. Cool. Wife had all our clothes on the outside clothesline when the rain suddenly came. Thought I was saving electricity for not using the AC the last few days, and now we have to use the clothe$ dryer bigtime. Oh well.

don't give up on cutting firewood yet!!!

I cut all of mine in Sept and Oct. Just cut the dead and down trees from people ranches. Already to burn. Also if you take your truck or trailer down to the city recycle center on saturdays or any other day it's busy you can get all kinds of free firewood from there. Some of it is already seasoned and ready to burn and some not, but it's free.
People bring in big limbs and tree trunks all the time. I just sit in the corner like a vulture and grab wood when it comes in.
I have gotten many a good load of free firewood from there.
