It largely went unreported this week. Sad
A three time Grammy winner, songwriter, and accomplished actor, appearing in several movies and one of the all time great guitarist being considered by many to be an equal to Chet Atkins.
It saddens me to see some of these guys start to die off because there is no real talent coming on nowadays. Most of the "Stars" today couldn't do it without a million dollar record label deal and smoke and light shows.
One hit wonders.
People like Jerry Reed had real talent and made it by just going into a place and picking and singing in the beginning. He developed styles of playing that were copied by many who followed in his foot steps.

Well, Sparky, I didn't know that, and he was my favorite!! Thanks so much for posting what the media refused to tell. Shame on THEM!! Too busy reporting politics and counting sneezes at AISD.
I was a Jerry Reed fan from the first day back in '71 when I heard that funny record he made, Another Puff. I thought that was the funniest thing I'd ever heard! I was hooked. I had a few but not all his albums which featured Amos Moses and all those good ones. I also had Smokey & The Bandit.
Back in the '70's, I saw him perform live at the Coliseum. One great talented guy, and really likeable. He was one great musician. I agree about being right alongside Chet.
You are so right about all the good ones leaving us. There are no true country musicians left. Just a bunch of phonies with what you say they have. That's all.
Thanks again, Sparky. Had it not been for your posting this, I'd have never known. It saddens me too, losing all the great and true talents like Jerry.

Most of the people today in the music industry and Hollywood bring America down and nations of the world grow to hate us because of their actions. Just look at the pictures from the MTV awards last night. I was appalled when I was looking them. Not to mention not knowing who they were. I feel it is best that way, not knowing, or even caring who they are, they look stupid. And that is how other countries see us.

Jerry Reed was classic. From his guitar licks to his many on screen personalities.
Not one mention of him in the ARN. Not that's journalism.
A great American will be missed. RIP

True again, Howdy. Sorry, but I don't go there, re: MTV anything. Too scummy and borderline porn for me.
And I'm not surprised about The Liberal Rag of Rags ignoring Jerry's passing. If he had been a member of high society, member of the Country Club or his wife a member of the Abilene Woman's Club, he'd have gotten front page. The Liberal Distorter is, after all, the rag of the silk stocking set here, doncha know. La-dee-dah! (need a sick smiley but don't have one for that last part)
