When my wife showed me the notice in the paper this a.m. about a certain "lndian Lady Physician" who was leaving town and putting her patients' care into the hands of two other physicians, I told my wife, "Didn't I tell ya'?"
It so happens that we had the misfortune of having this physician as our Dr. for a brief period when she first hit town two years ago.
She was good at her field, could be pleasant, but she also had a terrible temper and disposition if you tried to correct her. Once when my wife was in her office, I kept trying to butt in to tell her something very important about my wife's symptoms and her case. She would NOT listen.
So, all I knew to do was to try to write her a letter about what I was trying to tell her.
Next time in her office, I was running out of a very important medication. When I mentioned it to her, she blated out "No! You write me nasty letters!"
She refused to fill the Rx that would cause me withdrawals if I stopped it abruptly. Had I not been able to get it filled elsewhere and had withdrawals, I could have sued her. Her temper won again. Thank God, another Dr., who has been our physician ever since, and the best in Abilene, was willing to take me as a patient and filled the Rx.
Shortly afterward, the decision came for my wife to stay with this female Dr. or get with my Dr. I told my wife it would be best for us to have the same Dr. We made the change, and have been happy ever since.
When you are ill and worried about yourself or a loved one, a hot headed Dr. is not what you need. Apparently, other Abilene and area residents learned what we did about this lady physician.
I told my wife "Give her time". She will shoot herself in the foot with that temper. I was proven right.
