ok, I read a post about 'spammers'. who are they and how do you know they are there? What do you look for in a 'spam' post?

ok, I read a post about 'spammers'. who are they and how do you know they are there? What do you look for in a 'spam' post?
I try to catch these and delete them before they stay on too long. Usually try to get em in the morning, noon and then once again in the evening.
The 2 most recent ones were trying to sell real estate which is against the rules here. If I happen to miss one, please just report the post and I'll get on it ASAP.
