Ouch! I saw that air on TV last night. It's a miracle the driver wasn't injured. I would also hate to be his insurance folks or the bank!

That person had no business pulling that rig, he was obviously untrained and unaware of the height of his trailer
it amazes me how we make our professional truck drivers pee in cups for drug test, go to schools, take many other test, know regulations for all states, and buy permits by the thousands but anybody with enough credit can walk into a RV dealer and leave out pulling a 12,000 pound load with or without trailer brakes and he or she can hit the open highway running state to state with only a valid state DL

I have seen it more times than one Sparky. In 35 years and 3.5 MILLION safe miles, I have just about seen it all.
The thing that really gets me is watching some "grey hair" as they are affectionately called in Florida, behind the wheel of a motor coach driving 50 miles an hour in the fast lane of traffic. The way I see it, if they can afford the coach, upwards of $200,000, they can afford a driver!
The thing about the guy in the video is he will probably say, "The bank didn't have a height sign posted." Makes no difference, he should have not been going that fast in the parking lot.
As for the DL thing, yes I think the states should require someone pulling such a rig that they be properly trained and have an endorsement on their license. Most of the wrecks that I have seen like that, they "forgot" that they had a trailer back there.
Wonder how much trouble I would have gotten into if I forgot that I had a 14'6" tall load that weighed in at over 150,000 lbs and went under a bridge that was 14' tall.
Like has been said, glad I'm not his insurance company....
