Anyone out there know when Abilene will get a PBS? Preferable in Digital & HD. I hear from a New Jersey friend that PBS-HD is nice.

Aside from the HD, with so many big country residents not having a pay TV service, we really need PBS here for the kids. Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street, etc.

It's been almost a year after I posted this and not much has changed.

Why is KTXS the only station with a sub-channel (CW)?

I really think someone (KTAB, KRBC, or KXVA) needs to host MyNetworkTV (MNT).

Another fellow 1 megawatt CBS (KBTX in College Staion) hosts CW on it's sub channel, so I think KTAB should host MNT on a sub channel. Won't be in HD like they are in the big city (Dallas/Houston has dedicated MNT and CW's in HD) but at least we would have it.

Also, someone needs to bring ION and PBS to the area. I've only seen both of them as primary's, so I don't know if they can be hosted as a sub.

As far as I know it's not that hard to add sub channels, it's just adding a PID and another data stream to the current data stream. Might need a additional satellite and receiver to obtain the channel to rebroadcast though.

I'm planning on adding a thread soon on how to obtain some of these channels yourself using DVB-S2 Free-To-Air satellite. National PBS is available in HD straight from the sky for free and so is National NBC. I have to look into the others.
