Well KTAB has gone digital, but a lot of the time when I tune in (like this morning) all I see is the usual message, "We are experiencing technical difficulties, please stand by". I subscribe to Dish Network and have to pay to view the Abilene local channels and I am starting to feel cheated because I am not getting what I am paying for. I thought, just maybe, when KTAB and their sister station went digital this problem would be solved. Maybe they need to hire better technicians who can keep them on the air. I am a big fan of CBS programming and if I could I would change to the Dallas locals, but that is not an option.

Again, we are sorry for the KTAB and KRBC digital signals being off the air today. A tower crew and engineer from the transmitter company are on their way to find out what the problem is and get repairs done to get us back on the air as soon as possible.

Both stations use the same antenna, so if there is an issue with the antenna it knocks both stations off the air. Repairs were completed last week to return the stations to full power after a component on the antenna failed back in January. That component had to be sent back to the manufacturer to be rebuilt.

Dish Network does pick up our over the air digital signal and uplinks it into their system. As a result, when the broadcast signal is off the air, they are down as well. When they originally started the planning to add the local stations to their service they had planned for fiber feeds from the stations to their uplink, but it's possible that was nixed due to the costs involved.

We along with KTXS have a direct fiber link from our master control rooms to the Suddenlink cable office here in Abilene so they get a direct feed and do not use our over the air signals.

Will all the millions of Dollars spent you would think it would work. I watch and pay to watch locals on Dish Network.
FOR KTAB - I REALLY HOPE THAT SOMEONE CAN USE THEIR FANCY EQUIPMENT TO RECORD THE TWO CSI FINAL SHOWS THAT ARE SHOWING TONIGHT SO PEOPLE CAN SEE THEM.
WHAT ABOUT THE FANS OF KRBC SHOWS. MAYBE YOU SHOULD SWITCH THE ANALOG BACK ON AND GET SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

I know it's aggravating to you two, but give Tom a break. Getting nasty won't help any situation.

Digital broadcasting is still a relatively new medium. As with all new techologies, there are some bugs to get out and they are working hard to do just that. Maybe it's time to "ditch the dish". We use Suddenlink and are glad we do, reading about your dish miseries. This will all work out before long, and all this giving Tom fits will have been for naught.

He apologized and explained as nicely as he could what was going on, but of course, no apologies accepted or ice cut with either of ya'.

So, for those of us that didn't know to rescan our channels until now, are they going to re-air Survivor and CSI tonight or do we have to wait until CBS puts it on their website??? It just stinks turning on the TV to the brand new digital channel and there being no signal. It has happened too often lately.
