I'll sign the petition but I don't think it will change any laws overnight.
That one is going to have to go back to the Supreme Court for re-interpretation.

More important than laws, it is our culture that needs a wake up call.

Here in the US is a young girl gets raped and turns up pregnant we kill the baby and let the rapist live. How screwed up is that?

"We" (implying you, me, and everyone else) aren't killing a damned thing. The decision to abort is made by that girl and her parents, no one else, and that is the way it should be. By the way, a "baby" is not being killed, a fetus/pregnancy is being aborted. If it were up to me, rapists would have their "junk" cut off and locked up so that they get to be the victim, or just exacute them, either way, I have no use for scum like that. You want to take away the freedom of a woman to choose what to do with her body. While you're at it, let's support a law that bans having a mullet (that's a hairstyle, if you don't know what it is, you probably have one)! There's nothing you can say to change my mind and vice versa, but I do think that saying "lucky for you your mom wasn't pro choice" is an asinine thing to say, and I wouldn't have expected that to come from you. That statement implies that all pro-choice people will abort every pregnancy, and I know you must be more intelligent than that.

Slapshot,

I knew my comment to you would stir emotions and I did want you to think of the irony there involved. We let rapist live, but if the woman gets pregnant, the baby in some cases gets aborted or killed.

I've held both of my children moments after they were born and I will tell you
this, prior to birth, they weren't just a fetus. That is a real person in there with a soul.

anyway, this whole thread is likely to get locked if I keep posting on it, so I will make this my last post and let others think what they will about the topic, I don't plan on changing anyones mind, I just wanted my views heard as well.

later,

Sparky

Yes, this is indeed one of "those" topics that can get folks riled up. I don't believe in abortion and certainly don't advocate it. It's the government telling someone what they can or can't do with their body that I am against. When I was stationed in Charleston, SC it was illegal to operate a tatoo shop. So if someone wanted to get a tatoo, they had to go to a nieghboring state. I'm not sure if tatoo shops are still outlawed in SC, but I remember being so furious that the state would have such a ridiculous law. I want the government to stay out of my life (ironic since I work for the government, eh?), so based on that I have to be pro-choice, even though I'm against abortion. Maybe that only makes sense in my mind. I think I'm done with this thread as well.

the curious person that I am, I looked up abortions, I looked it up in the image search, it is murder. did you know that a baby has feelings and will move away from an object that hurts it earlier than 6 weeks gestation. sorry, it is murder. and if you do not know what a partial birth abortion is, well look it up, it is the most horrible thing anyone could do. sorry.

Did you know that Obama is in favor of Welfare paying for abortions???? So that means even if you do not believe in abortion, pro life, or whatever you choose to call it, you will still have a hand in paying for abortions! So, you, the tax payer, will no longer have that voice of being pro life. interesting thought.

My mother was and is pro choice. Fortunately for me, I was born a few months before roe v wade. My mother did not want me then or now, but I think my life was and is still valid. If you don't agree, I respect your position, so please be respectful of mine. It is a very personal thing that I don't think as a man I can truly relate to. I do know that a woman I was in a relationship chose to end the pregnancy against my will over A dozen years ago and it still bothers me. We both used protection, but accidents happen. I can't help but wonder what the child would be like now... Unlike some men, I did want a baby, even if not by those conditions. The lost opportunity makes me very sad to this day.

wow, konstantin4abilene, what a story. I have just recently told a story of a man in the military that his mother attempted an abortion, but something went wrong, or right, and part of his ear is gone, so every day when he looks in the mirror he is reminded that he was an abortion attempt gone in his favor of life.
