Please think before you decide to take your pets to the Abilene Animal Control Center on S.25th. My husband and I last Thursday had to take our two dogs there because my husband had received orders to go over seas and we couldn't take our boys because it would cost to much for us to bring them (we had to pay for each plane ticket which is more than a person plane ticket, special sticker through a group that had to approve for them to come with us). I had called in advance to get information about the place because I didn't want to take them to a place where they would just put them down. The lady I spoke with told me they were involved with a few adoption centers and that they try there hardest to place them in a home. So I felt comfortable about taking them there assuring that my boys would find a great home and have no worries. My husband took them Thursday night right before they closed and brought with him their beds, 2 bags of food, shampoo to donate to them assuring us that they would do their very best to get them adopted. Well yesterday I had a gut feeling I needed to call them to see how long they keep the dogs before they put them down. The lady I spoke with told us they keep the dogs up to 5 DAYS OR 7 THE MAX, i was in complete shock because no one told my husband or I that's how long they keep the dogs there and if we had known that we wouldn't have left part of our family to them. So my husband got on the phone and spoke with the lady and to find out they put our dogs down less than 5 days and stating that the adoption centers were full and didn't want them and no one else wanted them. So I am writing on here hoping you will think twice about sending your pets to that place unless you are willing to place them on their death bed because that's how we felt. We love our boys very dearly and we will miss them and they didn't deserve what they got just because that place couldn't give more effort in trying to give them a home. Our boys were very playful, loving, loved attention, loved our daughter and was very friendly with strangers and should have given a chance to another family then to be put down for no reason. So I ask you please think before you take them to a place like that if your pets are part of your family.
