The elected members of AISD are asking the public to approve a $25 million bond for a Career Tech School.

They do not know where it will be built, so this is strike one against it.

They have "an idea" on what kind of building they will build on it. Strike 2 against it since there is nothing in writing.

They don't know exactly what will be taught in it. Strike 3 against it. Again, nothing firmly committed.

When questioned about this issue, the board members I have spoken with have danced around the question without giving straight forward answers. You can speak with 3 different school board members and get 3 different answers.

There are some big businesses behind this idea and some of the City Council behind it and lest we forget, the "Honorable Mayor" is pushing it. Does one think that these big businesses are going to hire these students once the complete said school and pay them a wage other than minimum wage? Not on a bet. These kids will have to move to a larger city to make a living. Once again, the teaching is exported.

I don't need to tell everyone on here what the economic times are like for the "working" class as they are not good. We are tightening our belts, making every penny count, etc. and yet these people that we ELECTED want us to give them $25 MILLION for something that is basically an idea.

That would be like going to the bank and saying, "I need a loan of $25 million for an idea I have. I don't know where I'm gonna build the building or how big the building is going to be or what I'm gonna do with it when it gets finished, but I need the money." We all know they would laugh you right out of the bank if we did this.

Sure there are going to be some arguments that this will be good for the kids that cannot afford college or trade school. My parents could not afford to send me to college but I went anyway with the help of grants and loans from the government. I worked my way through school and bought my own education. Has anyone ever thought of doing that?? A lot of folks have done it!

The kids now days want something handed to them on a silver platter. This is not teaching a kid responsibility. No way, no how.

In essence what I am asking everyone that reads this to do is to vote NO on this bond election on Nov 3 and let the school board know that this is not a "need" it is a want and until things improve in the economy, you do without "wants". Also in the next school board election and city council election vote out the incumbent!

This post is my opinion and not the opinion of KTAB/KRBC and in no way should be construed as such. Others may have differing opinions and should be free to post them under 1st Amendment of the US Constitution. This is in no way attached to any PAC either for or against this issue.

we need to get out the vote. The that vote, the better our chance to defeat this deal.
