View Full Version : In the tank

I haven't been watching the localo news abou the career tech high school. I catch the evening news sporatically.
The Abilerne Reporter news has been in the tank with the supporters from the start and even threatened me with deleation if I didn't stop saying it.
It is sad that the local newspaper has to resort to Fox news like tactics to make their point. They have become nothing more than a commentary, than a news source. On Obama and Bush41 meeting at A&M they only reported on the protest and not the simalarities of the presidents. In the beginning on the career tech high school they said councilors would decide the students, then they changed it to an application process. The only problem I have with any of this is the only know fact for CTE is they want 25 million dollars for a career tech high school. They want 1.5 million for 16 to 20 acres. Split the difference thats 84000 dollars an acre.
Abilene has to be the most hypocrytical city in the state with it being voted the second most red city in the nation . Then voting to increase government and taxes.
Very strange.
By the way I am a socialist democrat, and this doesn't pass the smell test for me.

This doesn't pass the "smell test" for a lot of reasons other than just the land price.
Like I stated in another forum, if I went to a bank loan officer and asked them for $25M to start a new business. They would ask a lot of questions that I would have to have answers too. If I gave them the answers that the school board is giving out to the public about this, they would laugh me out of the bank! In essence, they don't know where they are going to buy the land, they don't know how big of a building they are going to put on it, they don't know the exact courses they are going to teach in it, they don't know if the outcome is going to be favorable or not. They are wanting to build it on a "field of dreams" theory. "If we build it, they will come."
Since I am out of town at this time and will be until after the election, I was afforded the right to vote via U.S. Mail. I have and it was a vote of NO!
I encourage all people to vote no on this school bond issue. They still have funds sitting in the bank for school renovations that are drawing interest from the last one that was approved. Fix the elementary schools first that are "falling down", then we'll talk about a new building.
The school board in Abilene has not shown any responsibility of being able to use the bonds that have been issued correctly.
I say, as many others, VOTE NOE AND VOTE OUT THE INCUMBENTS!!!!

I have been deleted from the reporter news blog. They do not want truth, just what they want. They want a career tech high school no matter how inconceived the plan.

You should know by now not to confuse the Distorter News with facts!! I have a personal dislike for that news paper and the folks that run it.
Unless you get too out of hand here on this forum, you are safe.
Vote NO! I already did!

Ropers40 or anyone else that may read this. If anyone wants some of flyers email me at donlemmons at gmail dot com , and let me know how to get em to ya.
We may not be a formal opposition, but we are a large opposition. Things are being done, and more is needed to be done to defeat this AISD/ARN cash cow.

I found this so interesting I had to quote it.
"(a bit of satire and parody:)
[excerpts of an early draft of this endorsement, accidentally e-mailed to opponents of the election when staff at the ARN thought they were explaining their banning policy)
"The Abilene Reporter News is at a tipping point.
The paper is only a few thousand dollars in revenue away from facing even more draconian layoffs and 'restructurings.'
We must consider the alternatives and choose: preserve journalistic integrity or maintain our dwindling revenue sources?"
(end satire . . . for now ;-)"

the first problem is they reported the total with interest is 34 mil, it's 44. they try to imply the stimulas will cut it more.

Since I'm not in town right now, how is early voting going?? Big turn-out or about the same?? Someone said that if there is a bigt turn-out at the polls, this thing will go down in flames again!
As far as KTAB/KRBC, they have to do what the powers that be tell them. I know a few folks that work there and they are voting against it and telling others to do so also!
About time for supper!
Later Ya'll!:D

We can only hope that the folks that vote defeat this bond with a vengence. For the last time Polnick can have another no vote and we get to listen to him whine and snivel!!!!

Why do you need a brand new to start this with? It seems it would be more prudent to start it now with what we have, and fix the elementary schools.

Clintonesq, Thank you for all that you did to get this stupid bond put down in flames. 60% AGAINST! 40% for.
Now I guess Randy Pool can go back to playing cards while he waits for his ice to freeze!! Lest we forget that Polnick will be whining on TV tomorrow about his precious idea, once again. You would think that after the folks here in this town voting down 2 or 3 in a row, the school board would have learned their lesson.
Once again, A BIG THANKS TO ALL THAT HAD A HAND IN GETTING THIS THING SHOT OUT OF THE SADDLE!!!!!

Man there were too many to thank. Alot of them still do not want their names known. Lynn should be KTAB tonight and I recorded an interview with Maria on KRBC just as we were winning.
It's a sad day when the administration holds the future of our kids hostage to a building.

One more time a bond election has failed. The people have spoken again.
How much did this cost the tax payers to have this bond vote again.
I agree with Mr. Lynn, recall needed asap. They just don't listen!

I know another on other than Pool and Polnick that is probably busting a vein in his head right now, Cromeens.
