I came from a town where they had many opportunities for our children to be involved in different activities for free. Yet here i want so bad to be able to put my children in sports and music, summer camps but everything costs money not just a little but a lot of money. It seems only the privelidged are allowed such things around here. Here of all places becouse of so many churches you would think there would be more to offer our children for very little or nothing for those who cannot afford it. I know there are a lot of rich people here. I have seen the big houses in several neighborhoods and watch the brand new vehicles around town. Please help our underprivledged children it is not their fault they don't have any money. Maybe churches can sponsor a couple of children or the community can come togather and provide something for our children to be able to do the things that only rich kids get to do....

I think you need to dig a little deeper and you will find the programs you are looking for.

I have looked in the paper, community magazines, recreation dept. everything costs money.

I know that youths who attend a church regularly have been sponsored to camps for free if they couldn't afford it.

maybe you could figure a way out as a family to earn some extra money to do a few things.

My kids help us mow lawns for their extra spending money

here is a link to the City of Abilene Community Services Recreation Division (http://www.abilenetx.com/Recreation/doc/leisure_guide.pdf)
I quickly looked over it and found several free and low cost youth and adult activities
