View Full Version : Parvo
We have the sweetest little 8 month old pug. We figured since we live close to the country, rabies shots were all she needed. Bad mistake. We took her to the vet today very sick. She has parvo. She will be there for 5 days. They say she had a trace, and we caught it in time, so her chances are good. But they can't say for sure yet if she will make it. I miss her so bad. She was always in our laps or wanting to play, or just being silly. Please send your thoughts our way that she will make it. We will never make such a bad mistake again.

Dale your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I have 2 dogs that have lived through parvo and they are better at treating it now. Please follow up with the booster shots, some say that the dog can't catch it again but I like to be sure.

I worked in a vets office when I was in college and parvo is so very terrible. I really feel for you guys. Be sure to ask the vet what you can do at home to kill it. I know we used to tell our patients to wash bedding and food and water dishes with clorox water. That very well could have changed thru the years. But please do ask. We also would lysol ourselves before we left the quarantined area so we would not pass it along to the other animals.
Good, luck and keep us posted. I hope your baby will be good and she can come home to her family. I know she is missing yall just as much as you are missing her.
Thanks , Ya'll are great. We got an update today. They say she is doing a bit better. May even get to go home a day early if she keeps on this way!!!!!!!!!. We can't go see her as she is in quarantine. We can't get any updates tomorrow as it is Sunday. But ya'll have really encougared me. She will for sure get any and all shots she needs from now on. As far as I can tell, the vet seems great. If it is ok, I'll give his name, It is Dr Ellis. They said she shouldn't get it again, especially with the booster. Didn't say anything about doing anything to the yard or house. But I'm gonna give it a good cleaning anyway just to be safe. Don't know what I can do to the yard though. She is mainly a house dog. Thanks so much. I'll keep ya'll informed.

That is true, but also a clean environment for any other dogs that might come into the home.
