Back in April 2007 KTAB/KRBC held a press conference in front of the station on s 14th to dedicate the building of a Memorial Plaza to honor the Armed Forces and have a place for people to drop off worn American Flags to be properly disposed of

It's been almost a year and a half and I was wondering if we could get an update as to when it might be built.
I have suggested a funding thermometer so progress could be tracked and maybe the community could get involved in the fund raising if we knew how much was needed and what the current status was.
I think it will look great on S14th and I can't wait to see it done.:)

May have to move that little red BR-549 shanty first. And I STILL think the bull sings it better.:D

No way. Unfortunately, that bonehead from RPM Direct is in cahoots with the station somehow (maybe related to management?) and we'll never see that idiot go away. Notice the little "public service" announcements from KTAB about the switch to digital television? It goes a little something like this: "KTAB and RPM Direct preparing you for the switch to digital cable"....no one gets free advertising like that unless they have major connections to the station. It's gotten so bad that all I care about in the mornings anymore is the weather. Once Kira does the weather, I change channels solely to avoid that moron and his RPM Direct commercials. Sorry to hi-jack your thread Sparkomatic.

no problem.
I know that Slapper would give up the planned memorial if they would put up a 30 foot tall statue of Kira instead:D:D

Sparky, thanks for the inquiry. Plans for the plaza are still in the works, just a matter of the organizations involved getting enough money raised to fund the construction work that needs to be done. Fundraising is still going on. We do have the drop off site for the used and worn flags set up in the KTAB KRBC BigCountryHomepage buildling lobby if anyone out there has flags which need to be disposed of properly.

thanks Tom

Is there anything the community can do to help with the fund raising?

The Non-Commissioned Officer's Club has been in charge of that, I will try to find out contact information and post when it becomes available.

I know it's been almost a year and a half and it would be good to know what the funding requirements are and what level has been raised so far.
I think the community would get behind it, if we knew what the goal was
The plans I saw, would be a nice thing to have on S14th street
