President's speech

I must be behind the times here. I just seen the poll on this website about having the presidents speech aired to students in the classroom. There are alot of people who have voted no for it to be aired. Now here is what I don't understand. Was there a question about previous presidential speeches being broadcasted to the public? Are students not permitted to make their own decisions? How will students ever be able to learn about politics if they don't see ALL sides? The students who everyone is trying to shelter from the politics of this country are our future.
First they took religion out of the classrooms, now politics?

so to me it seems Obama was just asking students to provide opinions/suggestions on how to improve the education system. not a bad idea IMO.
