Plans are underway for a shelter for homeless youth in Abilene.

"As many as 697 students in the Abilene Independent School District who fall into this category sometime during the school year," said Randy Perkins, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CCDC in a press release.

There will be a public meeting Tuesday, February 17 at 6 p.m. at the Rose Park Senior Activity Center to discuss the need for the shelter.

There is currently no shelter available locally for youth who have no place to stay, Perkins said.
