A few weeks ago we told you that FBI crime stats for Abilene were down overall, but there were a few categories that did go up, like robberies.

Now the Abilene police department has broken down those numbers even further, and the new numbers tell us more details about 2008.

One of the facts from the new crime stats just released by the Abilene Police Department broke down theft in Abilene by way of shoplifting.

This should be no surprise because of the amount of traffic there at the mall.

The Mall of Abilene had the most cases of incidents; contributing 102 cases to the to 414 cases of shoplifting in 2008.

Numbers three and four, both Walmarts both registering about 50 cases each of shoplifting in 2008 And this stat for 2008 will get your attention.
