The Abilene Ruff Riders are in talks with Quincy Carter about joining the organization. The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback played three seasons with the team, was released, and signed for one season with the New York Jets.
Carter has indoor football experience, playing for one season (2007) with the Bossier-Shreveport Battlewings, a franchise in the AF2.
While with the Battlewings he was suspended for four games for skipping practice, and his one-year contract was not renewed.
Carter's NFL stats:
Started 31 games with Dallas
Played 7 games with Jets
Completed 542 of 960 passes
6,337 passing yards
32 touchdown passes
37 interceptions

Carter also has a history with the law. He was arrested for marijuana possession in Irving in December 2006, and was arrested for the same thing again in Shreveport in October 2007 (mugshot pictured left). Because it was his second arrest, he was charged with a felony.
The Ruff Riders will hold final tryouts Saturday at McMurry University beginning at 9 a.m. Participants will pay a $50 registration fee.
