Driving elderly citizens in her community is just one of the many things she does to give back.
For Ms. Wiseman, helping others just feels right. And she wouldn't have it any other way.
Dorothy Wiseman's journey began back in the 1940's when her mother brought her family to Abilene. It wasn't easy then. Her mother worked two and three jobs at times just to make sure her children had a good chance in life.
And what a life it's been so far- Dorothy became a teacher; first at Woodson Elementary School, then on to Woodson Junior/Senior High, and finally at Mann Middle School, where she retired in 1987.
A 32 year career- but little did she know, it was only just beginning. Ms. Wiseman has been volunteering in the community and at church.
With her busy schedule, Ms. Wiseman does have one little request if you need her help: call her early. She's not much of a night owl anymore.
