Students Prepare for Severe Weather

Local elementary schools this morning practiced how they would respond to severe weather warnings.
The National Weather Service issued a simulated tornado warning at 9:30 this morning.
Students at Abilene's public schools responded by practicing their tornado drill procedure.
The students at Johnston Elementary braced against the interior walls and used books to protect their heads.
Texas governor, Rick Perry, proclaimed that this is Severe Weather Awareness Week.
The annual observance is scheduled to remind all of us of the dangers of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes before the spring thunderstorm season.
