Frontier Texas"A very satisfying experience," is how volunteers describe their time helping out at Frontier Texas. After his wife passed away, Carl was looking for distractions and what better way then to give back to the community by volunteering.

"Meet and greet tourists that come through here and answer questions for them. If they want to find out what else is going on here...We've got lots of brochures, " Carl says.

Frontier Texas is looking for more volunteers from within the community. They are hosting a volunteering training session on Tuesday, March 2nd beginning at 3 pm.

Volunteers will learn about everything that goes on behind the scenes at the museum. There are a variety of different things that volunteers can help out with depending on their interests.

Carl wants people to know,"if people are interested in it, they shouldn't worry about being a history buff. The museum pretty much does it's job as far as teaching, but what we add is something extra."

Nell Sims, the Volunteer coordinator at Frontier Texas says,"Volunteer's are an absolute vital part of what we do here. We cannot operate without the size staff that we have."

While volunteering is a rewarding experience in itself...Carl also says, "it's a good opportunity to learn history for the people that want to volunteer down here."

Many of the volunteers at Frontier Texas spend a great deal of their free time at the museum, that they feel like one big family.
