Federal funds will be used to pay for 75 percent of the cost to fight Thursday's fire north of Tuscola. The state of Texas requested the assistance that same day, and the federal money will go to the state and local agencies who fought the 300-acre fire.FEMA money is only approved after a certain minimum is spent at the state and/or or local level. It can pay expenses for
field camps; equipment use, repair and replacement; tools, materials and supplies; and mobilization and demobilization activities.
