The wildfire that sparked up Thursday near the "Y" on 83/84 south of Abilene, was threatening some homes on County Road 154.

That includes one family who had to leave their house and watch from a hilltop.

A fire break made by bulldozers, coupled with a few firemen, were all that saved a family home yesterday.

The family grabbed what they could, and fled from the home.

All they could do is watch.

The family was able to get back into their house last night and sleep soundly due to volunteer firefighters watching hot spots all night.

The family is thanking firefighters for their job.

FEMA is helping cover 75 percent of the cost to fight Thursday's fire.

The money will go to state and local agencies.
