Neighbors in Jasper, Texas reported seeing the toddler wandering outside and called police. When deputies knocked on 28-year-old Tamara Jones' door, she said she didn't know where her son was, according to Jasper County Sheriff Mitchell Newman.
The deputy also found a small amount of methamphetamine in the house and cages full of snakes. One of the snakes was dead, Newman said.
Jones is charged with endangerment of a child by criminal neglect and possession of a controlled substance.
The child was turned over to his grandmother by Child Protective Services.
