Opening statements begin today in the trial of former Ranger priest, Thomas Teczar, whose 2007 conviction of aggravated sexual assault of an 11-year-old by was overturned by the 11th Court of Appeals in Eastland County.

Jury selection was completed in the Eastland court on Monday.

A district judge sentenced Teczar to 25 years, but the appellate court ruled there were problems establishing a witness as an expert during the 2007 trial.

Teczar posted a $30,000 bond and has worn an electronic monitoring bracelet while awaiting the retrial, according to the Eastland County Sheriff's Department.
