Johnny Delgado and his wife Leemary love their kids, but Johnny says with two boys from a previous marriage and 2 young girls from this one, it's all his paycheck can stand.
"The way the economy is," says Johnny, "it's just tough the way society is coming up these days."
Urologist Ross Cohen says cutting back on kids seems to be a trend as of late: more men are walking through his doors requesting a vasectomy.
"Definitely within the last two or three years," states Dr. Cohen, "That's been more significant, but even this year I'd say an even more significant number have come in for consultations."
Dr. Cohen 's willing to bet more and more men are choosing vasectomies as a form of birth control.
"They really can't afford to have any more children than they already have just because of the expense of raising a child."
For families looking to pinch pennies, Dr. Cohen says a vasectomy's typically less expensive than other contraception options.
As always, be sure to discuss all your options with your doctor before making any decisions.
