President Obama met with top members of the House this morning to discuss plans for massive health care reform.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called the meeting very productive and vowed their would be a health care reform bill on the House floor by the end of July. Pelosi explained health care reform is about cutting the cost of health care for Americans, the economy and the national budget.
The California Democrat also praised Obama for his commitment to a healthier America and his leadership on the matter, saying lawmakers could not have accomplished what they have so far without it. Obama called today's events encouraging.
He added any healthcare reform legislation would need to include three key elements: bringing the rising care of health care down, allowing Americans to choose their own doctor and plan, and ensuring all Americans have access to quality and affordable health care.
