Alesi Losing GOP Support?

By: WROC-TV
Updated: March 23, 2012
A long-time New York State senator may have trouble getting support from his own party this election year.

Senator Jim Alesi might not get the Republican nomination in his own district. Monroe County GOP Chairman Bill Reilich says some town leaders may not support Alesi. He says it's mainly because of a lawsuit Alesi filed last year. The senator went into a house that was under construction that he thought was for sale, but it wasn't. He fell off a ladder and broke his leg. He then sued the homeowners, claiming the house wasn't safe. After public outcry, the lawsuit was later dropped.

Reilich says he has been contacted by some people interested in running, but he isn't persuading anyone.
