Aldridge Named Player of the Year

 The Kansas City Royals named Cory Aldridge Omaha Player of the Year.

The 30-year-old Abilene resident batted .316 while and led the Omaha Royals with 22 home runs and 71 RBIs in 98 games, according to a press release from the Royals.

The 1997 Cooper High School graduate batted .348 during August with 22 RBIs and 11 home runs.

Aldridge and the 15 other Royals minor league pitchers and players of the year will be honored at Kansas City's Sept. 25 game against the Twins.
