Wildcats Fall To No. 7 In Region

ABILENE – Monday the NCAA Super Region polls were release and the Wildcats dropped three more spots this week.
After falling out of the top spot last week the Wildcats fell to No. 7 in the region after Saturday’s 13-6 loss at Tarleton State. ACU is now on the outside looking in at the playoffs with two games left. The top six teams in the final regional poll of the season (released Nov. 8) will earn bids to the NCAA Division II playoffs.
Central Washington held onto the top spot after they took care of Humboldt State 38- 7 and Northwest Missouri remained at No. 2 after they escaped with an overtime win against Washburn 22-19. Despite losing Missouri Western also maintained their position at No. 3 falling 35-34 to Missouri Southern.
Midwestern State moved to No. 4 followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville at No. 5 and Tarleton State jumped up four spots to No. 6 after beating ACU. Behind the Wildcats are Washburn at No. 8, Central Missouri at No. 9 and Angelo State checking in at No. 10.
The American Football Coaches Association poll found the Wildcats outside the top 10 for the first time this season as they fell to No. 15 in the nation.
The Wildcats (7-2) enter the final two weeks of the season with must win games against teams ahead of them in both polls. North Alabama remained undefeated and received all 25 first place votes holding onto the top spot.
Central Washington held onto the No. 2 spot as Northwest Missouri moved to No. 3 one spot shy of where they started the season. Undefeated Minnesota State-Mankato moved to No. 4 and Grand Valley Sate checks in at No. 5.
Rounding out the top 10, Minnesota-Duluth moved up a spot to No. 6 followed by Tarleton State at No. 7, Nebraska-Kearney at No. 8, Texas A&M-Kingsville at No. 9 and Bloomsburg –who dropped their first game of the season- fell from No. 3 to No. 10.
The Wildcats are back in action at Shotwell Stadium on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. against Texas A&M-Kingsville (8-1) in a Lone Star South Division clash with huge playoff implications.
