Spending the holidays away from home is always hard but it's especially difficult for U.S. Troops.  Each year the Battleship Texas has it's annual Sailor's Christmas Celebration to help Texans get a sense of how an earlier generation of American fighters kept their holiday spirits up while far away from home and family.

Throughout the month of December the crew of the Battleship Texas decorates the ship as it would have been decorated during peace time.  In the true spirit of Christmas, the public is invited to tour the Battleship Texas and take part in a special celebration.

Santa Claus actually comes on the ship, and there are a lot of children's activities.  Free cookies and wassail and other Christmas types of goodies are handed out to the guests.

A Sailor's Christmas continues throughout the month of December.  Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
