An oil tanker collision on January 23 spilled 462,000 of crude oil in the Sabine Neches Waterway near Port Arthur. The Texas Parks and Wildlife "Kills and Spills" team helped in the joint response to the spill by assessing the environmental damage and rescuing some oily birds.
