U.S. Clashes With Canada For Womens Hockey Gold The U.S. womens hockey team will look to unseat two-time defending Olympic champion Canada in todays gold medal match. Both teams come in undefeated. Team USA has outscored its opponents 40-2 in Vancouver, while Canada has crushed its foes 46-2.
U.S. Mens Hockey To Face Finland Friday
The U.S. mens hockey team will skate against Finland in Fridays Olympic semifinals.
Team USA shut out Switzerland 2-0 in yesterdays quarterfinals behind 19 saves from Ryan Miller.
Canada beat Russia 7-3 and will face Slovakia in Fridays other semifinal matchup.
U.S. Women Win Bronze In 3,000M Short-Track Relay
The American team of Allison Baver, Alyson Dudek, Lana Gehring and Katherine Reutter won the bronze medal in the womens 3,000-meter short-track relay.
It was the first medal for the U.S. women in this event since 1994.
China won gold after South Korea was DQd.
American Reutter Sets Record In 1,000M Heats
American Katherine Reutter set an Olympic record in the womens 1,000-meter short track heats.
Her time of one-minute, 30.508-seconds beat the record of 1:31.003 set by Canadian Kalyna Roberge three heats earlier.
The quarters, semis and final are all on Friday.
American Medal Total Reaches 28
The U.S. continues to lead Germany in the overall medal count in Vancouver.
Team USA has won 28 medals in all, with seven gold, nine silver and 12 bronze.
The Germans have 24 medals and Norway has 18.
The U.S., Germany and Canada all have seven gold.
