Thousands of children will receive new clothing or school supplies for free as part of Operation Blue Jeans.

In 2009, the Abilene Christian Service Center provided jeans, socks and underwear to more than 750 low-income children and gave school supplies to nearly 2,000 more.

School counselors will also distribute school supplies at the beginning of the school year to children whose parents contact them and request them.

If you would like to donate to the cause, Operation Blue Jeans is looking for brown paper sacks with handles, used childrens clothing in good condition, backpacks and money to help purchase new clothing.

Donations will be accepted through August at Christian Service Center located at 901 Mesquite Street in Abilene.  Parents can call 673-7531 to make an appointment.
