A man behind bars in Brownwood has a following of supporters demanding his release.

According to a member of the Hawaii Cannabis Ministery, there are almost 30 of its members currently in the Brownwood area.  They are hoping to soon see Chris Diaz released from the Brown County Jail.

Diaz was arrested with a little less than 2 ounces of marijuana and claims it was prescribed to him in California.  Since he was arrested, he's been in the Brown County Jail.

A member of the minstry refused to give her name, but said she believed Diaz's arrest was actually a kidnapping. Now she says she, and 26 other ministry members are in the Brownwood to defend their friend Diaz.

According to Trooper Sparky Dean, Texas does not recognize medical marijuana, and will treat it as an illegal substance. Diaz was charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. He's in the Brown County Jail with a $40,000 bond.
