Right now there are around 50 dogs undergoing rehabilitation at the adoption center, receiving treatment for everything from malnutrition to socialization.
"Unfortunately it's kind of becoming a habit, but you know we deal with it, we fix them and move on," says Adoption Center Director Mindy Qualls. "The extremes that these two dogs are in, or were in when they came in, you might run into that once every month or once every two months. And they come from all over."
Some dogs are brought in as strays, while others are admitted as abuse victims.
Depending on the dog's condition upon arrival, it can take months for them to be considered healthy enough for adoption.
