Pool, Park Demolition Underway in Albany

By: The Albany News
Updated: August 23, 2011
Equipment rolled into Albany's Webb Municipal Park Monday in preparation for the planned $2 million overhaul of the park area.

Paul Smith's Stonebridge Construction crew is demolishing the old Head Start building and pool facilities this week, as workers from Ayers Dozer load trucks and haul away debris. Both companies donated "in kind" work to the park renovation.

"Planned construction completion time for the pool is mid- May of next year," said Scott Hay of Enprotec/Hibbs & Todd, Inc. "We are planning the same time frame for the remainder of the park but with that portion being completed by various sub-projects with some volunteer or donated work, it is much more diffi cult to project a completion date there." Hay is the primary engineer for the renovation.

City manager Dave Ramon is pleased with the mid-May time line.

"I believe it is the intention of all involved to get the entire project completed by May," Ramon said. "When the pool opens, I want the park to be complete. I would even suggest that we plan a kickoff event for the end of the school year."
